Seville

Seville has a population of 685,000 to absorb its captivating atmosphere. A major trading center when the Romans conquered the Iberian Peninsula, it became the most important city in Spain during the Spanish colonial period, when it had a monopoly on trade with the Americas. The main attractions are narrow streets, grand churches, beautiful gardens, squares and parks. The city's cathedral is one of the world's largest in the Gothic style. Adviced to see it at night, when it's lighted. The four statues hold up a casket that's said to contain the remains of Christopher Columbus. Don't miss the Giralda, a tower that once served as the minaret for the mosque that occupied the site before the cathedral was built.
