Aberdeen

Aberdeen is university town and also the capital of the Scottish oil boom. It is famous with its buildings of beautiful granite and is one of Scotland's largest seaside resorts. The main attractions of the city are the 14th-century Brig o' Balgownie, the Winter Garden, the 15th-century St. Machar's Cathedral, the Mercat Cross of 1686, a fine art gallery and the Aberdeen Maritime Museum. Old Aberdeen has the campuses of the two ancient universities, King's College founded in 1495 and Marischal College founded 1500 which now combined as the University of Aberdeen.
