Oslo's best asset is its setting. Facing a fjord and surrounded on three sides by forest, it's a fine example of Nordic scenery. Densely wooded hills disguise the fact that it's home to around half a million people. The main attractions are the palaces, churches and museums. In winter, visitors can cross-country ski and watch ski jumping. In summer, visitorsd can take a ferry ride across the fjord, and hike in the forest.
