PisaPisa's main attraction is Romanesque Leaning Tower in the 14th-century. The instability of the tower made it necessary to close it to visitors in the 1990s. It was said that at a certain point the tower will actually return to its original vertical position, an extensive program to rebalance the tower has been successful in slowly righting the structure. While this might lessen the charm of the tower, the other option was to watch it tumble to the ground. The tower and its 294 stairs are once again open for climbing. After the tower, The Campo dei Miracoli a grassy square is a pleasant place to relax. Don't miss the Camposanto Cemetery, the Romanesque cathedral, the 16th-century church and Palazzo dei Cavalieri, the piazza and the National Museum of San Matteo-excellent collection of 12th to 15th century art.
