Thessaloniki

Founded by a Macedonian general Kassandros in 315 BC, Thessaloniki is the capital of the state of Macedonia. The main attractions are striking mountain scenery, a waterfront on the Aegean, underwent a major face-lift in 1997, the historic buildings, museums, concert halls and theaters.
