Liege

Liege is 60 mi/100 km east of Brussels which has a population of 200,000. Also knonw as a grimy industrial town which has a main attractions the market square with its 17th-century Perron Fountain, the Palace of the Prince-Bishops, Curtius Museum which exhibits from the Gallo-Roman, Renaissance, baroque and Frankish periods, including a display of glassware and masterpieces of Mosan art and the Museum of Walloon Life. Liege is known for its gunsmiths and crystal, as well as for being the birthplace of Georges Simenon a creator of the Inspector Maigret novels. Dont miss the pewter factories, St. Mengold's Fountain and the ruins of the Abbey of Neufmoustier; Spa and Tongeren, Belgium's oldest town and site of the country's largest antique market.
