Tioman

Tioman lies off the coast 218 mi/353 km southeast of Kuala Lumpur. this tropical island was the stand-in for the mythical Bali Ha' in the film South Pacific. Tioman offers all that Bali Ha'i would if it had been turned into a resort: beautiful beaches, clear water, dense rain forests and dramatic peaks. The main beach on the west coast does get crowded at times, but there is almost always some spot to the north or on the east coast that you can have to yourself. Visit the rain forest by trekking across the island from Tekek to Juara. Snorkeling and diving are the main activities on the island. Visit Monkey Bay for a vibrant underwater show, even in the shallows. Most accommodations tend to be simple as there's only one upscale development on the island, the Berjaya Tioman Island Resort. Salang Beach is a popular place to stay. It has some mid-range as well as budget accommodations, a few bars and some good fish barbeque restaurants.
