Langkawi

Langkawi 65 mi/105 km north of Penang, has been developed for tourism, which is both a blessing and a curse. Where once there were only modest hotels, the principal island now has a range of accommodations from modestly priced hotels to deluxe resorts some of them real honeymoon destinations. The new buildings are fairly unobtrusive and the islands are still a good place to relax, though the best resorts are exclusive retreats on the north coast. Beaches range from white to amber to black, and the water is generally pure blue, though it can be cloudy depending on the time of the year. Dont miss the shopping in duty-free stores at Pantai Cenang. The relaxed beach town also offers a variety of bars and restaurants for a night out.
