Udaipur

Udaipur 385 mi/620 km north of Mumbai sits on the shores of Lake Pichola. The main attractions are its palaces, the white marble Maharajah's Palace, the Winter Palace with its mirrors, inlaid tile and mosaics of peacocks, the Jag Mandir and Jag Niwas. The other attractions are Sahelion-ki-Bari, the Victoria Hall Museum and the Jagdish Temple. The Lake Palace Hotel is the former summer palace of the local maharajah. It's a fantastic building, and the restaurants are good. Dont miss the visit to Chittorgarh, which has the spectacular Victory Tower and the Kumbha Shyam Temple.
