Srinagar

Srinagar is the capital of the famous region of Kashmir. In the past it was a famous vacation spot, today it suffers frequent attacks by militants that have badly crippled the daily lives of the local residents, businesses and the public institutions. Srinagar has been known for its houseboat vacations on Dal Lake and Nagin Lake, which arose after the local maharajah forbade foreigners to own land.
