Hohhot

Hohhot 255 mi/410 km northwest of Beijing. The main attractions are the Five Pagodas Temple, the mosque and the Gegentala Steppe to the north and the advised to visit the area in July and August. Visit the traditional yurt and the Mongolian rodeo or ride camels or horses for the day. The area teems with herds of horses, sheep and cattle and more than 340,000 nomadic shepherds. Excursions there are really for the more experienced or adventurous traveler.
